We are living in an increasingly relative world, where nobody believes in absolute truths anymore. It is part of the post-modernism thinking that is very much ingrained in the society today.
Reality? "We all create our own reality."
Truth? "There is no absolute truth. Every opinion is equally right."
Morality? "All moral values are relative. You decide what is right for yourself."
It's distressful to play any (sports) game, if there are no rules to abide by.
I believe that's the same dilemma that King David faced as he ponders on his people wanting to go their own ways apart from God.
"How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods?"
King David offers
3 mindsets to adopt, to cope with living in a post-modern world.
1) Know the you are set apart by God and for God (verse 3) - Do not conform to this world.
2) Be slow to anger, always reflect (verse 4) - Always evaluate your motives if it's right before God.
3) Do what is right even if foolishness in man's eyes (verse 5) - Trust that God will uphold you.And God promises that you will have greater joy than material prosperity, and a peace that nobody can take away.
