Psalm 24: GateKeeper.

1 The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;

2 for he founded it upon the seas
and established it upon the waters.

3 Who may ascend the hill of the LORD ?
Who may stand in his holy place?

4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift up his soul to an idol
or swear by what is false.

5 He will receive blessing from the LORD
and vindication from God his Savior.

6 Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek your face, O God of Jacob.
Selah

7 Lift up your heads, O you gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.

8 Who is this King of glory?
The LORD strong and mighty,
the LORD mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, O you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.

10 Who is he, this King of glory?
The LORD Almighty—
he is the King of glory.
Selah

In the Lord of the Rings, a young hobbit named Frodo Baggins, was chosen by destiny to be the ring-bearer of The One Ring (which had the power to corrupt minds), because somehow, the evil influence of the ring has no hold on this young hobbit as his heart was simple and pure.

I was reminded of this example, because in today's psalm, King David sings (verse 7-10) of how God has chosen him as the gatekeeper of His nation, the key person appointed to usher in God's presence.

"Lift up your heads, O you gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in."

In the same way, God has called us to be the gatekeepers in our families, in our schools, and even in our cell group!

But are our hearts corrupted by our own selfish desires, just wanting to go our own way and do our own things?

If you dont invite God into your life and rise up, and you are the only christian in your family, how then can God work among your household?
If you dont invite God into your class and school, and you are one of the few representatives for God in your class, how then can God save your friends?
If you dont invite God into your quiet time and pray for your cell brothers, how then can God be in the midst of our meetings?

God has a high calling for us. He wants us to stand in the gap for our loved ones. But...

Ezekiel 22:30 "I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none."

How sad would it be, that God is looking and looking, but we never fail to rise up!

Let's repent and turn back to God and ask Him to give us a new heart, a pure heart that seeks to do His highest calling for us - to stand in the gap!

3 Who may ascend the hill of the LORD ?
Who may stand in his holy place?

4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift up his soul to an idol
or swear by what is false.

5 He will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God his Savior.
