Happy Chinese New Year... though this psalm is anything but happy.

This psalm is one that King David wrote when he has sinned against God, and for someone who constantly enjoyed close fellowship with the Holy Spirit, when Holy Spirit departed from David because He was grieved (due to the sin), David felt it. A lot.

Probably the closest analogy would be an unfaithful husband pleading for the wife to come back, after his moment of folly having a one-night-stand is exposed.

This psalm can also be read in the light of Jesus sufferings on the cross, when He took upon Himself the sins of the world.

Today's reading is very direct, so I leave you with just one thought:
David felt the effects of sin very deeply because he was walking very close to God.
The very fact David can sense Holy Spirit departing from him, means that David consciously and constantly repented of his sins, so that he can walk right with God again.

Wont you follow David's example?
